Summary
I read the recent article about George Welch and his induction into the National High School Hall of Fame (Aug. 21). There is no more deserving person in the world. I've known George since 1973 when I first walked into the choir room at Murray High School at the beginning of my sophomore year. Over the years I have been fortunate to sing in some excellent choirs and under several excellent directors. None better, nor more fun than George. He made my musical experience my first year at Murray exhilarating. I wish he would have stayed for my whole tenure in high school. I also had the privilege many years later to join the Salt Lake Symphonic Choir. I sang with George for almost 20 years in that choir. I have enjoyed every minute of that association and greatly miss his presence with the choir. George is one of the best people I know. I wish he could be cloned. Teachers who have the impact on lives that George did on mine are few and far between. I love the man and appreciate all that George has given to me over the years. Again, congratulations to George on an honor richly deserved. I'm happy to be a small part of his legacy.
