Summary
Rick Soulier's allegation (Readers' Forum, April 23) that those who "torture" our enemies are driven by their desire for a "sexual thrill" is simply outrageous. I suspect that the 3,000 families of those who died on Sept. 11 have little regard for the mastermind of the whole affair. The terrorist's intent was to kill. In contrast, with waterboarding, the likelihood of death is very small. The intent is not to kill but to get information to prevent them from killing more Americans. Mr. Soulier seems to have more compassion for a master terrorist than his countrymen. Let us remember that the Geneva conventions apply only to armed forces in uniform.
