Vouchers Not an Lds Issue

Summary

Columnist Bob Bernick Jr. reinforces an inaccurate stereotype about Utah. In his column (Nov. 3) he talks about the LDS impact on the voucher issue. Obviously he has not lived anywhere else. We lived outside of Boston seven years ago. I had two sons in elementary school. On Tuesday afternoon when the bus would come, six children would get off the bus instead of a bus full of children. The reason? All the other students would stay after school for Catholic catechism. Yes, there are other states with dominant religions, and it doesn't have anything to do with the education in public schools.

School vouchers have nothing to do with LDS vs. non-LDS schools. Mormons are not told to go to Brigham Young University. They are told to get an education and expand their minds. Please. Do not turn this into an LDS issue. That's a transparent attempt at poor propagandizing.
