Summary
I have a suggestion that could be a compromise for both factions over the 12-foot cross memorials honoring the fallen UHP officers: cubes. Cube memorials outwardly don't look like a religious symbol, yet when you unfold the six sides of a cube just the right way and lay it open, it takes the shape of a cross. Twelve-foot crosses could then be folded into 3-foot cubes and placed on public lands without violating the laws separating church and state.
