CEDAR CITY -- A trial began Monday for a man accused of shooting a police officer during a traffic stop here.

Bryan Featherhat, 32, is charged with first-degree felony attempted aggravated murder and aggravated robbery, a second-degree felony. He is accused of shooting Cedar City police officer Jason Thomas twice with a shotgun. The officer was trying to help Featherhat with a car that was stuck in a snowbank in January 2007.
