New Threats Prompting Changes in the Reserves

Summary


The world and the American military establishment have changed greatly since the all-volunteer force was implemented 31 years ago, and now, during an asymmetrical global war on terrorism, the reserve forces need to change even more to meet new threats.

That is the opinion of top leaders of the nation's military reserve components who discussed reserve issues Thursday at the national convention of the Reserve Officers Association, meeting at the Little America Hotel in Salt Lake City this week.
