Tea Party Lukewarm

Summary

Sarah Palin's visit to Searchlight, Nev., was meant to be a thumb- in-the-eye to Sen. Harry Reid, who calls it his "hometown" despite his embedded roots being firmly planted in the political jungle of Washington, D.C. While I share Palin's hope that Reid will be "fired" by the voters, I'm not sure Palin can fully harness the power of the tea party movement to its fullest potential. The tea party, as a movement, is jeopardizing its future by having self- annointed and quasi-official spokespeople -- such as Palin -- ramrodding the agenda. As long as Palin is handcuffed to the Republican Party, she is just playing "tea party."

I enjoy a bit of iced tea from time to time, especially on a hot day. It offsets the heat of the moment and quenches the thirst. So far, the polical tea party offsets nothing and leaves a stale taste in one's mouth.
