Summary
From time to time our presidents and civic leaders ask us to do something for our country that takes us out of our own daily troubles and concerns. Our new president has called for a National Day of Service to reach out within our communities to those in need. As expressed in his campaign, Barack Obama hopes to expand national service organizations such as the Peace Corps and AmeriCorps to include new service organizations, including a Classroom Corps and Veterans Corps. As Utahns, we are justly proud of a long and committed spirit of volunteerism. I hope we can join with other Americans on this important National Day of Service to give back to our communities and nation.
