The Department of Transportation has, for the first time, levied fines against three air carriers for stranding passengers aboard an aircraft.
Continental Airlines and its ExpressJet Airlines were fined $100,000 while Mesaba Airlines, a subsidiary of Delta Air Lines, was fined $75,000 for their respective roles in an incident Aug. 8 in Rochester, Minn.
