Federal agents say they've cracked a human smuggling ring where three young Mexican females were promised jobs and housing in the United States but ended up instead living in fear for their relatives' lives and paying inflated smuggling fees.

A federal grand jury on Thursday returned an eight-count indictment charging Armando Gutierrez-Valencia, 40, and his wife, Martina Ernestina Gutierrez, 49, with harboring illegal aliens, bringing in illegal aliens, aggravated identity fraud and possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute.
