Summary
I saw the classic oxymoron on the back of a beer truck last week: "drink responsibly." What in the world is "responsible" drinking? Drinking alcoholic beverages is automatically irresponsible. There is no possibility of becoming an alcoholic if one doesn't take a drink. There has never been a drunken-driving accident caused by teetotalers. Those who never consume alcohol rarely end up with alcohol-related illnesses. Drink responsibly. How insidious. They left off the implied phrase -- "but for heaven's sake, drink!"
