MIRAN SHAH, Pakistan (AP) -- An explosion in a vehicle killed at least four people in a militant stronghold in northwest Pakistan, a witness and local media reported Sunday, while concern grew over Taliban encroachments elsewhere in the volatile region.

Mohammad Afzal said the blast occurred near his home in Kaza Mada Khel village in North Waziristan tribal region. He said he saw four bodies and two people who were wounded. Women and children were among the casualties, indicating a family was in the car, he said.
