Summary


For generations, the children in my family have come in exactly two shapes: Stocky or rail-thin. Growing up, I was in the latter category, so skinny I looked like I was one fall away from shattering.

It didn't have a lot to do with how much I ate. I could out-eat my stockier siblings and all of my stocky cousins. And it wasn't activity level, either. They could -- and did -- race miles around me on the playground. They still do.
