Protest Seemed Meaningless

Summary

In the Sunday edition, a column by Lee Benson described the very meaningful act of a fallen soldier's family, who gathered enough supplies and toys to fill a railroad car-size container, then sent that container back to the same area in Iraq where their soldier son was martyred. Right next to that column is the picture of bicyclists adorned in surgical masks protesting the Iraq war, U.S. health care and the dirty air. Besides achieving their 15 seconds of fame, what meaningful contribution has this group accomplished? How meaningless is their protest compared alongside the sacrifice of Sgt. Nathan Barnes family! Thank heavens for individuals like the Barnes so that Healthy Planet can express their views.
