Summary
The Bush administration has been pushing the Iraqis to learn American-style democracy. Congress has given the Iraqi government 18 points by which their progress is to be measured. Recently, there has been criticism of Iraqi failure on 10 of the 18 points.
I maintain the Iraqis have learned our style of democracy very well. They have watched as our Congress has let partisan politics prevent any progress on immigration reform, fixing the shortfall in Social Security, making Medicare solvent and a host of other meaningful issues and have decided to follow our sterling example. If our government were given the same 18 points by which to measure our progress, would we stack up any better than the Iraqis?See the full content of this document
