Summary
This is in response to the letter from Wallace Hoffman (Readers' Forum, Aug. 5). As the wife of a police officer I can sympathize with his feelings. I can't tell you how many times I have tried to locate my husband while he is on duty, only to be told he is too busy with domestic disturbances, armed suspects, suicides and much worse. I know he and the officers he works with try so hard to make it to the doughnut shop; but try as they might, they just waste their time trying to keep the city safe. Go figure.
You would think that the officers would be more vigilant in keeping model citizens, such as Hoffman, happy. Heaven forbid he ever needs the police because his neighbor's dog is barking and these "missing officers" are out on a child-abuse case.See the full content of this document
