Officials Eye Funds for Visitors Center

HIGHLAND - City leaders have their collective eye on funds from President Barack Obama's stimulus package to build a new Mount Timpanogos Cave visitors center and have hired a lobbyist to help them get it.

The City Council recently hired Bill Simmons for $5,000 a month to go after federal construction funds now while the stimulus package is still being formed. It could take as long as two years to get the money, city administrator Barry Edwards said. The Obama plan includes putting people back to work in construction.
