Summary
On June 15th, I attended a press conference where Mayor Rocky Anderson made a major announcement about his plans to preserve property located in Salt Lake City but owned by the city of North Salt Lake. In a very measured, thoughtful speech, he calmly set forth his plan to maintain his commitment to open space.
The moment he completed his speech, a different tone emerged. Mayor Kay Briggs of North Salt Lake erupted, spewing forth his objections, ranting in such unreasonable, unrestrained manner that it was hard to even understand what he was saying. It was in stark contrast to the thoughtful proposal just delivered. Mayor Briggs lacks the ability to negotiate a settlement, leaving Salt Lake City no option but to let the court decide the fair purchase price of the land through condemnation.See the full content of this document
