Once again the Deseret Morning News editorial board shows its liberal slant by endorsing a lighter sentence for a major drug dealer named Weldon Angelos. You are against the original sentence of 55 years mainly because you are against mandatory minimum sentences, just like you oppose Jessica's law which imposes 25 years to life mandatory minimums for child sex offenders. You failed to mention in your Angelos editorial (Page A12, Nov. 1) that he was a known gang member who, by his own admission, dealt large quantities of marijuana and cocaine. He was found with firearms, large amounts of cash, a ledger showing he was owed almost $100,000 by other drug dealers and drove a $30,000 new car. This is one appeal the U.S. Supreme Court should turn down.
