KEARNS -- Jennifer Penn and Viridiana Zendejas made sure their silver tiaras were in place before they were ready to go. The two 16- year-olds, Miss Kearns and Miss Kearns first attendant, respectively, also double-checked their outfit before leaving. Both wore light blue tees embroidered with a small tiara symbol, tiara- charmed necklaces and delicate earrings.

After pinning back their tiaras with a jewel-encrusted bobby pin, both teen queens walked across the parking lot at Kearns High School -- where both girls are sophomores -- picked up a bucket of paint and stepped into the back of a rusty pickup truck.
