Micron Technology Says Demand Strong for Products

Micron Technology Inc., the world's No. 2 maker of computer- memory chips, said Wednesday that its customers are predicting better-than-expected demand for their products.

Demand for chips that provide the memory for personal computers and notebooks will grow 15 percent to 20 percent this quarter from the prior quarter. That compares with a 15 percent to 17 percent increase in supply from Micron and competitors including Samsung Electronics Co., said Kipp Bedard, the Boise-based company's head of investor relations.
