Man in Threat Case May Plead Guilty

A man charged with leaving several threatening messages on the phone of a staffer for Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, said Tuesday he would rather plead guilty than be sent away for another mental evaluation.

After being arrested and charged in September 2004, William Blain Collinsworth was sent to a federal facility in Springfield, Mo., for a mental evaluation to determine if he was competent to stand trial on one felony count of threatening a federal official. According to court records, the evaluation lasted from June 2005 to February 2006, with the final report being issued this April.
