Summary
My family has loved ones interred in almost every cemetery in the Salt Lake Valley. Each of my siblings invested in holiday decorations for the graves which could be used from year to year. We place those decorations on the graves the week before Christmas and leave them there until the week after New Year's Day. Most cemeteries have a policy of removing flowers from the graves each week during the mowing season and five days after a holiday. Usually they don't rigidly hold to that policy during the winter months, especially during Christmas.
On Friday, four days following the legally recognized day to celebrate New Year's Day, we made our rounds to retrieve the decorations. Much to our surprise, Mountain View Memorial Estates had already cleaned off the graves and thrown away the decorations! I am sure that they want to be the model of efficiency, but I wish that they would adhere to their own rules.See the full content of this document
