Lds Church Condemns Abuse

Summary

The photograph in the March 20 paper shows the reflection in a mirror of a woman being examined by a member of the Salt Lake City Fire Department after a dispute with her boyfriend. Tucked in the mirror frame are four LDS "pass along cards." Above the mirror is a large picture of LDS President Gordon B. Hinckley. Clearly, the woman has listened to LDS leaders who constantly teach in conferences, sacrament meetings and in church publications that no woman should ever tolerate abuse of any kind, be it physical, emotional or psychological.

Suspending the usual twinkle in his eyes, President Hinckley repeatedly warns all men that abuse of women and children is a heinous act and monstrous sin that will result in condemnation and excommunication. Please include some of President Hinckley's statements in future articles, not just in the Saturday Church News.
