Rio Tinto Plc's Kennecott Utah Copper unit said it is buying copper from other producers to fulfill some sales because its own supply from the Bingham Canyon mine doesn't meet a customer's specifications.
The ore being processed at the 2 1/2-mile wide mine near Salt Lake City has more bismuth than is acceptable to a customer that makes magnet wire used in motors, James Cowley, Kennecott's vice president of sales, said in an interview.See the full content of this document
