MALIBU, Calif. (AP) -- Jerome Lawrence, who co-wrote hundreds of plays for stage, radio and screen, including "Inherit the Wind" and the musical "Mame," has died. He was 88.

Lawrence died at his home Sunday from complications related to a stroke he suffered a year and a half ago, his niece said.
