Interest Rates Forecast: Won't Rise Very Quickly

Nancy Lazar of ISI Group expects interest rates won't rise very much.

Rates typically rise in an improving economy, but Lazar says low inflation will break this pattern as high inventories prevent price rises. Another factor is China, whose expanding economy will produce more and more cheap goods. Jason Trennert, ISI's chief strategist, expects stocks to finish 2004 16 percent ahead.
