BAGHDAD, Iraq -- Prime Minister Nuri Kamal al-Maliki said Wednesday that Iraq would conduct an inquiry into the recently disclosed rape-and-killing case involving U.S. soldiers and contended that the immunity from Iraqi prosecution granted to foreign troops encouraged them to commit crimes.
"We do not accept the violation of Iraqi people's honor, as happened in this case," al-Maliki said, according to wire service reports, during a news conference in Kuwait, where he stopped on a diplomatic tour of gulf states. "We believe that the immunity granted to international forces has emboldened them to commit such crimes in cold blood," he said, adding "there must be a review of this immunity."See the full content of this document
