For the last several years, the state has had a hard time hanging onto good, young officials for high school sports.
"Our retention rate is terrible," said Jerry Bovee, assistant director of the Utah High School Activities Association. "We are getting new people in every year, but we're not retaining them. We lose them after a year or two. We've done a good job recruiting, but we really need some people who've been in this business to step up and mentor these newer officials."See the full content of this document
