SOUTH JORDAN -- Alternative energy technology company Headwaters Inc. will partner with an electricity cooperative to build an ethanol production plant in North Dakota.

South Jordan-based Headwaters said Monday it would be the majority owner of the facility, which would provide 50 million gallons of ethanol per year and would operate on land next to Great River Energy's Coal Creek power plant near Underwood, N.D. The companies hope to begin construction by this fall, with operations beginning a year later.
