I received several responses to a column about great movies adapted from books and, as expected, I missed some wonderful adaptations.
Reno's Gerald Barlow gets credit for reminding me of several titles, including an old favorite. Director Billy Wilder's 1944 version of writer James M. Cain's "Double Indemnity" is one of the finest motion pictures ever made. Barlow also mentioned "Mildred Pierce" (1945) and "The Postman Always Rings Twice" (1946), which were also adapted from Cain's novels.See the full content of this document
