Summary
I am absolutely incensed by John Sweeney's letter (Readers' Forum, April 28) titled "Immigrants, go to Canada." I am an American who lived in British Columbia for two years while serving an LDS Spanish-speaking mission. The amalgamation of cultures in Canada makes for a wonderful environment. Have you never experienced the beauty of another culture, Mr. Sweeney?
In Canada, the immigrants that Mr. Sweeney would so ignorantly "pass on" are given the opportunity to earn an honest living and contribute to society. Yes, Canada needs them to boost its tax base, but we need their tax dollars here, too. We need to make citizenship available to our brothers and sisters south of here. They can contribute to our society. They can support themselves and pay taxes and take care of their neighborhoods. All they need is a chance.See the full content of this document
