ST. GEORGE -- Residents throughout this southern Utah city are being encouraged to take an active role with local police in battling crime in their neighborhoods.

"This is a coordinated effort and we can't do it without your help," St. George Police Chief Marlon Stratton said during a recent meeting with residents of the Bloomington Hills area on the south end of town. "If you see something that looks wrong, call. We're trying to put a stop to those who are saying, 'It's not my department,' when you call the city. We are not going to give you the runaround."
