For a number of reasons, the landfill that services all of Salt Lake County doesn't recycle. As soon as garbage enters the gates, it gets treated like garbage. First, a heavy-duty compactor runs over the newly deposited refuse five times, then it is leveled by a bulldozer and finally, at the end of the day, the mangled mess is covered with a combination of cellulose and cement mix known as posi- shell.
