Salt Lake police officers shot and killed a pit bull dog that reportedly tried to attack narcotics officers serving a search warrant.

SWAT officers were assisting the Salt Lake City Police Narcotics Unit at a home at 148 W. Westwood Ave. Thursday night. Detective Joe Cyr said as officers were going inside, they encountered an "aggressive pit bull." Officers were forced to shoot the dog that was about to attack, he said.
