A bracket-buster game ended the second day of action at the U.S. Lacrosse Intercollegiate Associates National Championships in Blaine, Minn. Ninth-seeded Florida State scored five goals in the third quarter to take a 9-7 lead over top-seeded BYU. The Cougars went down fighting, scoring two goals in the final four minutes but it wasn't enough as the Seminoles won 11-10. Florida State sophomore attackman Rob Herzog scored the game-winner for the 'Noles with 2:17 left in the game. FSU junior D.J. Romanchuck scored a team-high three goals and senior attackman Mike Borkowski (1g, 3a) tallied four points. BYU had four players score four or more goals led by Mark Davis (3g, 1a). The Cougars held a slim 5-4 advantage at halftime. The Seminoles advance to Friday's semifinal round where they will face No. 4 Sonoma State.
UTAH 11, LINDENWOOD 7: Utah won this battle of teams making their first appearance at the IAs as the Utes defeated No. 12 Lindenwood 11-7 in the first consolation round.
