Ground was officially broken Monday for construction of the $53 million, six-story, 200,000-square-foot John A. Moran Eye Center at the University of Utah.

The new facility -- located just west of the University of Utah Hospital, south of Primary Children's Medical Center and east of the Medical Center TRAX Station -- will more than double the current space at the existing, 11-year-old Moran Eye Center building.
