A bat uses sonar to fly and find food. Sonar is a highly sensitive system, not a genetic trait that could be developed over time. A certain South American beetle shoots hydrochloric acid to ward off predators. Two separate jets of harmless chemicals, sprayed together, form this acid, protecting the insect without harming it.
