Summary


Here's how I remember my first trip to the ocean.

I'm 9 and my brother's 7 and we're sitting in the back seat of a station wagon, motoring through Los Angeles, headed for the beach. The streets are lined with well-groomed palm trees and well-groomed movie stars who are wearing gem-studded sunglasses and holding well- groomed toy poodles.
