Summary
I appreciated James M. Rawson's letter (Readers' Forum, Oct. 2). As an elementary school teacher, I have worked with numerous non- English-speaking students over the years. I couldn't have explained the true situation any better myself. The notion that all ESL children enter this country capable of reaching grade level immediately, flies in the face of all language development understanding.
No Child Left Behind, which perpetuates this misguided agenda, is the brainchild of President Bush. Last time I checked, he considered himself a conservative!See the full content of this document
