Contrary to your editorial ("Attack poverty intelligently," June 1), raising the minimum wage can help reduce poverty -- along with the planning for the kind of want in our state in 10, 20 or 30 years. With good planning we can ensure growth for companies, workers and the economy.
Many responsible companies and small-business owners recognize their future is tied to that of their employees, and pay their workers accordingly. But thousands of workers and their families in Utah simply cannot count on receiving fair compensation. They remain mired in poverty. Raising the minimum wage in Utah will not only lift these families out of the ranks of the working poor but help build a responsible economy that works for all the residents of our state.See the full content of this document
