Donations to the Utah Food Bank are expected to be close to last year's totals but well short of the 2 million pound goal set at the outset of the holiday food drive.

So far, the food bank has collected about 1.1 million pounds of food from a number of sources, spokeswoman Amberlie Phillips said. On Wednesday, skiers donated close to 18,000 pounds -- an entire semi-trailer of food -- in exchange for $12 day pass at Brighton Ski Resort.
