Dietitians Address Kids and Weight

Summary


Weight gain -- especially among children -- is becoming a major national concern as physicians see problems often linked to being overweight in increasingly younger children.

"It's probably a consequence of the lifestyle that today's kids are leading," says Nanna Meyer, registered sports dietitian and research associate at The Orthopedic Specialty Hospital. "Inactivity is one of the major issues; then, of course, the increased calorie consumption, especially from fat foods. We see very poor choices all over."
