Next time a presidential aspirant's main campaign themes are "hope" and "change," start running in the opposite direction. I never believed that this president could change the way Washington does business any more than any other politician could change this stodgy, waterlogged system.

Short of a Bolshevik-style revolution, business will continue to be done the way it has been for the past five decades or so. Lobbyists rule supreme. It takes money and lots of it to gain access to politicians. The little person has little sway with Uncle Sam -- that's the way politics has always worked in a democracy and the way it always will.
