Nick Martineau, a 6-foot point guard for Davis High School, will sign a letter of intent next month to play at BYU, he announced Wednesday.

Martineau will give up Division I offers to play football as a defensive back to concentrate on his basketball career. Most of his recruiting attention came in football. Martineau had offers to play both basketball and football at Southern Utah and Weber State. Before a coaching change at Stanford, the Pac-10 school recruited him as a defensive back.
