Criticism of Hospitals Unfair

Summary

Depicting Walter Reed and Madigan hospitals as offering poor care is unfair and untrue. Our son-in-law was seriously wounded in Iraq last March and was evacuated to Germany, then to Walter Reed. He received superior care there. We visited him in one of the outpatient housing facilities as soon as he was upgraded to outpatient status. His room was large, clean and attractive. Only one building, Building #18, is substandard, not the care given wounded soldiers or the rest of that huge complex. The hospital itself is clean and the staff excellent.

With the large number of wounded needing care and a shortage of space, a building that shouldn't have been used to house soldiers was made available. And though a poor choice was made in this instance, it is unscrupulous to imply the entire military medical program is uncaring and negligent.
