CEDAR CITY -- In the past two years, Southern Utah University had verbal commitments to play football games at BYU and UNLV.

Both, however, were forced to drop the T-Birds and replace them with Division I-AA opponents, which were considered counter schools. Meaning, should the Division I-A team win -- like it normally does - - it can count that game toward their victories to be eligible for a bowl game.
