Summary
Our Republican-dominated Legislature has refused to even consider funding emergency dental care for Utah's neediest citizens. At the same time, they voted to spend $15 million to build a 270-stall parking garage. Dividing $15 million by 270, the cost per stall will be $55,555. If used to pay for dental coverage for Utah's poor, Uncle Sam would match each of those dollars with $2.40. The result would be that for what our legislators spend on just one parking space could have bought $188,887 worth of dental care for the least fortunate.
