Summary
I read Cathy Free's column regarding not running red lights (July 31), and I certainly agree. It's a great tragedy when someone gets hurt by drivers trying to beat a red light.
While there is no excuse for this behavior, I believe there is another side to this story. And that is the frustration drivers feel when they wait for a green light, only to see the light just ahead change to yellow and red, the same with the next light and so on. It's very hard to be forced to stop at light after light that are set up purposely to slow traffic.
