MINNEAPOLIS -- Abbigail and Isabelle Carlsen remained in intensive care under sedation Saturday, one day after doctors spent nearly seven hours in surgery separating the conjoined twins.

The 5-month-old girls were breathing with the assistance of ventilators "after an uneventful night," according to a statement released by the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.
